Ms. Keller is a founding Partner of Hynes Keller & Hernandez, LLC. Prior to forming Hynes Keller & Hernandez, LLC with Mr. Hynes and Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Keller was a partner at a nationally recognized securities firm where she concentrated her practice on shareholder class and derivative litigation, and served as head of the firm’s Shareholder Derivative Litigation Department with Mr. Hynes.
Ms. Keller has served as lead or co-lead counsel in numerous complex cases in which she has achieved substantial corporate governance measures and/or financial recoveries for the corporation and its shareholders, including Bainto v. Laphen, et al. Consolidated Case No.: A-12-661695-B (District Court Clark County, Nevada 2013); In re Forest Laboratories, Inc. Derivative Litig., No. 05-CV-3489 (S.D.N.Y. 2012); In re Ligand Pharm. Inc. Derivative Litg., Lead Case No. GIC834255 (Cal. Super. Ct. 2006); In re Novastar Fin., Inc. Derivative Litig., Lead Case No. 04-CV-212685 (Cir. Ct. Mo. 2004); and In re Tenet Healthcare Corp. Derivative Litig., Lead Case No. 01098905 (Cal. Sup. Ct. 2002).
Other notable cases include In re UnitedHealthGroup Incorporated Derivative Litig., Case No. 27 CV 06-8065 (Minn. 4th Judicial Dist. 2009), where Ms. Keller was part of the litigation team that was instrumental in obtaining a recovery of more than $930 million for the benefit of the company. At the time, the settlement reached was believed to be the largest settlement ever in a derivative case. Ms. Keller also led the litigation team that was successful in causing the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to reverse the dismissal of a shareholder derivative action in The Booth Family Trust, et al. v. Jefferies, et al., No. 09-3443, 2011 WL 1237583 (6th Cir. Apr. 5, 2011). The decision involved important issues pertaining to the independence of special litigation committees and ultimately resulted in a settlement that conferred substantial benefits on the corporation and its shareholders.
Ms. Keller graduated from Hobart & William Smith Colleges in 1999 with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and English and from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2002. She is a member of both the New York and New Jersey bars and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, and the District of Colorado.
